The School Council

Miss Thwaites helps us with our School Council. We have two elected members on the council from FS2 to Y6. The Council meets every two weeks. We are proactive within the school. We support and help organise charity events within school and fundraising events. We listen to the other pupils in our school through the use of our suggestion box, and we help their voices to be heard. The school council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at Carnagill. Everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas and then start working on changing things. Sometimes we have to talk to the teachers and sometimes we have to involve people from outside the school.

Through the school council all pupils have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas and take part in discussions to reach a democratic solution.

Recent events:

· Children in Need - Assemblies and activities.

· Christmas Fundraising Events - We had great fun making glittery play dough and reindeer food.  We raised over £100, this money will be put into the school council budget to help fund our next projects.

· School Disco - The school disco was a huge success and the money raised will be used to enhance our garden areas within the school grounds.

 Your suggestions:

We have been discussing the ideas left in the suggestion boxes.

You would like:

- more games painted on the playgrounds.

- bird feeders outside the bungalow.

- goal posts for the field.

- toilets refurbished.

- even more after school clubs.

- fruit for KS2.

- more trees and flowers around the school grounds.

If you can think of any more ideas then write it down on a piece of paper and put it in the suggestion box on the school council board outside the staff room.
