Extended Learning

Family Learning

You can make a real impact on how your child gets on at school by being confident and capable of supporting their learning and development.

Anyone with responsibility for a child; such as mums, dads, grandparents and carers, without a Level 2 English or Maths qualification is welcome to attend family learning courses.

Family learning courses include learning together with your child or grandchild. They provide opportunities for you to improve your own skills, discover what children learn about at school and try fun activities that you can do together on the course and at home.

Up and coming courses

Starting on Tuesday 28th February 2017 for 5 weeks will be the Chatterbox Programme.

This programme is designed to support speaking and listening that is vital to every child's education.

If you are interested in joining this course you are welcome to meet the tutor on Tuesday 14th February  2017 between 9am and 11am in Poppies. No appointment needs ~ just drop in.

Family learning courses:

  • Vary from two-hour family fun workshops to 60-hour programmes;
  • Can give you the chance to work towards a nationally recognised qualification in English or maths;
  • Sometimes offer free childcare provisions; and
  • Are available in different community venues, such as schools, children’s centres and community centres.
