Welcome to class Y3/4 A

This year, our teacher is Mrs Wigham and our teaching assistant is Mrs Pickersgill. If you are new to the class or school, we hope you are looking forward to getting started and learning in lots of interesting ways! Our first topic will be Ancient Greece. To get a head start on what we will be learning, have a look at the links in the class information.

2017 - 2018

Our topic for Summer 1 is Road Trip USA. We have had a look at some of the states in detail and planned a road trip of America using the state capitals! We've learnt about key events and created a Native American timeline.

We had lots of fun this term! We started the term by focusing on the Stone Age and had a brilliant day out at the Jorvik Centre. If you want more information on the Jorvik Centre, then click the link. We did lots of work around the book of Stig of the Dump and learnt about the different types of rocks in science and found out how rocks are formed.

After half term, we had an amazing time learning about South America with a detailed focus on Brazil. We compared the human and physical geography of Rio and North Yorkshire and learnt to play some Samba music that we performed at the Carnagill Carnival.

This term, one of our topics is potions. We have done lots of learning around this topic already and we are really enjoying it!

We have been learning about Arthur and the legend of The Sword in the Stone in English. We can all retell the story and will soon be applying everything we have learnt to write it. After that, we will be creating out own legend with aspects of other Arthurian legends.

In Maths, we have been getting creative and doing lots of measuring. We have measured the length and weight of objects and have even designed and made our own mocktails!

In Science, we have started learning about light. We have looked at what light is and what dark is and carried out a fascinating investigation. Have a look how we got on below:
