Welcome to class Y3/4 A

We love our learning in our class! Our class teacher is Mr Atkinson and we have Mrs Jenkins and Mrs White as additional adults working in our class.

We like to help each other in our learning and there are plenty of resources around the classroom that can help us too. We love adding ideas to the working walls and using these to help us remember what we have learnt about. We have a reading corner that helps us to share our love of reading with each other and we can add book reviews to so that our friends can find a good book to read.

The environment in our classroom is lively and helps us to share our learning with each other. We love being active and using technology when we can to improve our understanding of whatever we are learning about.

Summer

Our topic for Summer 1 is Road Trip USA. We have had a look at some of the states in detail and planned a road trip of America using the state capitals! We've learnt about key events and created a Native American timeline.

Spring

We had lots of fun this term! We started the term by focusing on the Stone Age and had a brilliant day out at the Jorvik Centre. If you want more information on the Jorvik Centre, then click the link. We did lots of work around the book of Stig of the Dump and learnt about the different types of rocks in science and found out how rocks are formed.

After half term, we had an amazing time learning about South America with a detailed focus on Brazil. We compared the human and physical geography of Rio and North Yorkshire and learnt to play some Samba music that we performed at the Carnagill Carnival.

Autumn

This term, one of our topics is potions. We have done lots of learning around this topic already and we are really enjoying it!

We have been learning about Arthur and the legend of The Sword in the Stone in English. We can all retell the story and will soon be applying everything we have learnt to write it. After that, we will be creating out own legend with aspects of other Arthurian legends.

In Maths, we have been getting creative and doing lots of measuring. We have measured the length and weight of objects and have even designed and made our own mocktails!

In Science, we have started learning about light. We have looked at what light is and what dark is and carried out a fascinating investigation. Have a look how we got on below:
